French Mum, humanitarian, restless explorer and doer on sabbatical in Cebu (Philippines): one Attila in each arm, I am exploring the “toddlers safe” corners of the region, while trying to keep some room for Me.
My heart definitely belongs to a city. Preferably big enough. With decent shopping, International food and sidewalks please so I can wear my Stilleto from times to times. I found it all in a week end in Manila !
Where to sleep ? follow the link and enjoy a lovely stay in a beautiful loft in Makati for 80 dollars a day. http://www.tripadvisor.com/VacationRentalReview-g298450-d3580411-Nice_SpaciousLoft_1st_rate_Amenities_w_AirportSvc-Makati_Metro_Manila_Luzon.html#HEADING
Everything we needed was at our fingertip : swimming pool, kids play ground, Power Plant mall and last and not least…Starbucks literally at the corner of the building !The owners, Chris and Lawrence have been very attentive to our needs, finding the perfect baby cot for Leandre and answered our requests in no time.
Hungry ? Greenbelt 3, People’s Palace ! trendy Thai restaurant. After 3 years in Bangkok, all I can say is that no food can beat the taste of the one you buy in the streets of Thailand. But this one is still worth it : http://peoplespalacethai.com/
Less glamorous but best diner for years : Va Bene Pasta Deli ! This Italian restaurant is a pure gem. Pasta are home made and they are simply perfect. Try the mozzarella and tomatoes salad, close your eyes and you ll be in Roma. Ravioli were absolutely delicious and the Lemon cake was buenissimo. http://vabenepastadeli.com/
I got all emotional when I discovered that Keyser had a boulangerie in Power Plant Mall ; Is there any sweeter way to learn French ? TWG is there too, as expensive as ever, but their teas and macarons are worth being on rice and sweet patatoes for a week or 2.
Kiddos ? Mall of Asia has all the options : they can play for hours in Cosmic Kids and enjoy a nap in one the car or trolley you can rent for less than 100 pesos an hour.
Next visit I ll wear my running shoes and we’ll play it more cultural…
