Maëlle’s First Commandment to her newborn brother

Today daily prompt: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/uncanned-laughter/

Maelleandre

My little daughter was getting restless and impatient. As much as she loved stroking my whalish belly and talking to her brother, she wanted to see him and hold him NOW! “See Mum, he is knocking at the door! He wants to come out!”.

When the two siblings finally met at the maternity, she was speechless – which already says a lot. She was admiring Leandre from every single angle, brushing his tiny fingers, caressing his head and repeating over and over how much she loved him.

But it took only a second to break the spell. As soon as I started breastfeeding him, she busted into uncontrollable tears.

When she finally calmed down, she came to her brother with her most serious looks. She gave him a gentle hug, but her commandment was clear enough: « you don’t eat my Mummy ok? You can only have milk! Don’t eat my Mummy again!».

Took a while to explain that Mommy will actually be Leandre’s bottle for some months. She was so impressed that she stopped asking “But how did he come out?” 😉

Very emotional moment. Loved reading it, short and sweet and carried lot of message in it. God bless your family 🙂

You are so right! I am on sabbatical this year, and it took me a while to finally get ride of my obsession with productivity and simply enjoy all those beautiful moments I am spending with my family.
I read your great last post and I could easily tick all the lines, thanks to them 😉 I could even add: throw my handbag in the trash and take the kids to school carrying the plastic bag with Leandre’s dirty nappies instead…been there too! Take a deep breath in, go back, and dig in the trash for my bag, with a smile: My children are my most precious and demanding little guru 😉
