French Mum, humanitarian, restless explorer and doer on sabbatical in Cebu (Philippines): one Attila in each arm, I am exploring the “toddlers safe” corners of the region, while trying to keep some room for Me.

Mothers of toddlers, you are safe in Cebu: 5 reasons your kids won’t go beyond the blue zone

from Rants from Mommyland

  1. They’ll have fun shopping with you

Till Cebu, shopping with the Attila has always felt like trying to concentrate on 150 things at once while someone repeatedly beat me over the head with a plank of wood while a megaphone.

This is over now : here are the kids, far in front of me, happy in their little car. We can race each time we are getting dangerously closed to the toys section, everybody is happy ! This is the best invention I had ever experienced, they can not even see the sweets. Malls here are very child friendly, there also have a multitude of playgrounds and for the youngest ones, breastfeeding rooms. Paris, you are so far behind !

  1. They will let you drink your coffee in peace

Nobody will get burnt, nothing will break, you ll have time drink your coffee fully seated and keep smiling all the way ! Just open the door of one of those funky Korean cafés that are now blooming in town ( ) . The staff is very friendly, Maelle can spend hours dressing as a Princess and posing for their walls of fame, while Leandre is working on a new masterpiece.

  1. They will be happy to go to School (really !)

Our kids are studying at Cambridge (I love the name so much that I always tend to forget to precise it is in Cebu). Leandre cried the first 2 days when I left. The third day, he cried because … I picked him up ! No wonder, here is what a « field trip » looks for the toddlers : discovering textures, drawing and tasting doughnuts. Leandre’s face says it all!

  1. They will always have an audience eager to play with them

Just take them to a mall or any public place. Just make sure you have enough time at hand, because you ll have to include the compulsory photo shoots :

The Attila are so used to it by now that they believe that Guapito and Guapita are their Filipinos names !

  1. They will have a great nanny  !

From the time I was living in Europe to our recent posting in Bangkok, we always heard the best about the reputation of Filipinos nannies. Wish you all can find one as precious as ours, and I guarantee your sanity is absolutely safe 🙂 Dulce, a special message from the Attila :

Ravis 🙂 c’est le paradis des enfants ici ! Maëlle avait certainement des crampes aux joues à force de prendre la pause!
