Burning Man in LOVE

Ukrainian Sculptor Alexandr Milov has deeply touched my heart with the giant masterpieces he exposed at “Burning Man”.

He calls them “Love” : the two wired framed sculptures are turning their back to each other yet their inner child is trying to reach out, to touch, to hug. Milov explains that they “ demonstrates a conflict between a man and a woman as well as the outer and inner expression of human nature. Their inner selves are executed in the form of transparent children, who are holding out their hands through the grating. As it’s getting dark (night falls) the children start to shine. This shining is a symbol of purity and sincerity that brings people together and gives a chance of making up when the dark time arrives.”

From my “previous life” working in war affected countries, I have witnessed beautiful stories of hope and resilience. To me, this is what those sculptures are about: not forgetting that whatever the conflict, there is hope and innocence rising from within. At the end of the day, dont we all need the same thing: to love and to be loved?

This year, Milov was amongst the winners of the “Burning Man“, receiving enough grant money for he and his team to bring the poignant sculpture to the Nevada desert.
