First Love (Cheesy post!)

Last week, I did a little photo shoot in some schools of Bantayan Island.

To break the ice, I asked this little girl if her neighbour was her best friend.. And for some reason, the way she looked at him, the giggles of the classmates and the lovely airs of the little boy, I was under the impression that there was something more there. Or maybe it’s just my hopelessly romantic mind?

Who knows? Maybe in a couple of decades, when they will take their own kids to school, they will smile at the recollection of those days .. when they were only 6 but already knew that they were made for each other.

They will both have a nice career and enough money to leave the life they want. He won’t be a fisherman like his exhausted Dad, struggling to make a decent living for his whole family.

She would have studied hard, and graduated with honours. She will never be a helper like her Mum, strangled in Dubai for so many years. When her teachers asked her what she wanted to be, she never replied model or actress, like most of her girlfriends. She has always wanted to be a medical doctor. And she’ll be a great one.

Sunday, they will celebrate the first birthday of their second child. Lechons, boxes of San Miguel, karaoke, it’s gonna be a huge fiesta!

(I warned you, this post is cheesy. And to make it absolutely cheesy, I couldn’t resist to place one of my favorite quote:”When I saw you I fell in love. And you smiled because you knew” (Shakespeare of course!) )

Happy Sunday to you all 😉

Indeed 🙂 And who knows, they ll may end up being the happiest couple! I have always been amazed by the stories of those couples who met on the school benches and have been together since then .. As if they have always known they were made for each other.
Maybe they are one of those?..
Cheesy but cute, no ? 😉
      XXX! Happy Packing !

Not cheesy actually, but rather “Corny “. You have become intoxicated already of Filipinochisms Haha! Childhood crushes & sweethearts! I’m sure your children have so many admirers there knowing they all look “foreign ” from the local children.Once you go, many will be heartbroken.
I really enjoy your adventures in Philippines Estelea.
I love the way you see these simple things that may sound rubbish or corny, but still they are the epitome of a priceless Filipino “normal “childhood.

Hehehe, thanks for your comments ! I think I ve been listening to too much cheesy love stories in the karaoke! 😉

My daughter had a crush on a cute Pinoy classmate, but she abruptly decided she was not in love anymore. Reason why: “He’s always showing off, telling me he has 50 cousins! I know he lies, how can you have so many?”
Yep.. we can not compete in every single field 😉 Recently, we heard a lot of good things about Suyokji, her “cute” Korean classmate. She is the one bragging now, proud to have “so many more relatives than him! he has only 1 cousin and I have 2!”.
      What it takes …:P

Oh, no, there is definitely something going on there. 🙂

Hey, I thought of you. I had the opportunity to try home cooked Philippine cuisine, well, it was a very small restaurant that was run by a couple of Philippinas and they made it all from scratch, it was quite tasty. I tried so hard to remember the names of dishes for you…it was a variety and I liked the spices..it was a little bit Thai meets a little bit Indian..not too spicy but oh so … comforting. Tasty too!

Ahhh, you make me feel normal. THere is something between those two! 😉
Glad you liked the Filipino food, it can indeed be very tasty. I really like the way they cook grilled fish, with this so unique sauce with vinegar, chillies and soy sauce .. It is a bit of a struggle when you are a vegetarian, as they love pork (the famous Lechon) and chicken. But they also have great seafood, especially those blue crabs, so yummy …
Next week we are heading back to France for holidays. Can’t wait to savor our cheeses, pastries .. and our wines! 😀
